When planning an engagement session I always love to ask couples if they have a special place in mind. Sometimes it’s a beach, a specific gazebo, or a spot on Main Street. For Alicia and Josh, it was Congaree National Park.
I had been to the Congaree as a kid but not recently enough to remember my way around. Alicia and Josh led me down the boardwalk as they told stories about old trees, hurricanes that had damaged the park, and their time here as college students. While attending the University of South Carolina where they met, Alicia and Josh would bring their dogs to walk down the many pathways of the forest. They said during their strolls through the trees, they both agreed they would one day return to take their engagement photos in the park.
Alicia knew when they came back for photos that one of the shots she wanted to get was her ring resting on one of the “knees”. The “knees” are a recognizable part of the park and are part of the Old Growth Forest. I’d loved the uniqueness of this idea!
Alicia and Josh will say their vows next April on USC’s campus! I can’t wait to continue capturing their love story as the celebrate across Columbia!
