Mr. and Mrs. Hayslett | Camp Cherokee

Kyle grew up attending Camp Cherokee every summer making fond memories, gaining skills, and making life-long friends. When he met Kristie in high school, he knew one day he had to show her the camp that meant so much to him. Fast forward a few years to their proposal, and Kyle knew exactly where he wanted to marry his bride.

Kristie spent countless hours pouring into her details which made for the prettiest of photos. Her touches of blush and peach perfectly complimented her focal point of greenery. While capturing the details, I wanted to also pay tribute to Kyle’s service in the Navy by capturing part of his uniform.

Kyle got ready in his childhood home in York. I loved getting to capture this special time in his parent’s home while his mom and I chatted about his family’s time in the military and the excitement of the day.

Kristie got ready at her hometown salon in Rock Hill. Surrounded by her closest girls, we had a blast chatting hair and make-up, wedding plans, and about what parts of the day we were most looking forward to.

When planning her bridal party’s look, Kristie knew she wanted something unique. This pastel gradient was the prettiest to capture. We set the portraits up near the woods of Camp Cherokee to capture the beauty of the forestry and it was the perfect compliment to Kristie’s details.

Kristie and Kyle’s unique touches didn’t stop with the bridesmaids. Inspired by the forest, the groomsmen wore suits of dark green to complement the floral arrangements and the natural beauty of the camp. I had a lot of fun playing James Bond with these guys, who were all too willing to play along.

The ceremony took place at the camp’s amphitheater overlooking Lake York. The details were kept simple to highlight the beauty of the space. Guests sat back and watched Kristie come down the aisle with her grandfather, quickly followed by Kristie and Kyle being married by Kyle’s longtime friend Will, the now director of Camp Cherokee.

After the ceremony, the bridal party and I headed down to the lake front to have a little bit of fun and celebrate the new Mr. and Mrs.

Sunset portraits with these two were nothing less than dreamy. You could sense their joy to finally be husband and wife, something these best friends had been waiting on for quite awhile.

The rest of the night held a lot of dancing with friends and family in the camp’s nearby mess hall. A day full of such intimate moments and special details held the best of memories for these two longtime lovers. A huge congrats to you Mr. and Mrs. Hayslett; it was the great of joys to capture your love!
