My fall busy season kicked off celebrating Ely and Garrett in Durham, North Carolina. These Duke alumni turned Florida residents returned to their alma mater to celebrate their I Dos on a warm day in September. They got ready with their families at the Washington Duke Inn, where they got to take in special moments like Ely’s first look with her dad and Garrett and his groomsmen having a toast. Garrett and Ely shared their first look with each other on campus to celebrate where it all started while their bridal crew cheered them on.

If you’ve never been to Sarah Duke Gardens, it’s a must stop on your tour through The Research Triangle. This space occupies fifty-five acres of Duke University’s campus and is a stunning display of flowers and greenery. We captured fun moments with Garrett and Ely’s bridal party and family in front of the flowers before heading to their ceremony overlooking the pond. They kept their vows short and sweet as they shared sweet memories in front of their friends and family and laughed with each other. It was evident these long-time lovers were so happy to finally be Mr. and Mrs. and especially happy to have their loved ones there with them.

Ely and Garrett’s reception was one of my all time favorites. First, Ely’s vision of bohemian elegance was brought to life flawlessly by Kathy from Sally Oakley Weddings. White flowers and feathers dominated the space making it feel etherial and modern, while the twinkle light-lined tent stole the show. It was a truly beautiful space through the course of the evening and I still day-dream about their stunning tent set up. Second, this was the most fun reception I have ever attended. Ely’s Venezuelan family brought so many fun moves to the dance floor and the night ended with masks, bubbles, and a whole lot of party. Throw in a few Taylor Swift sing-a-longs and that’s my idea of a good night. This crowd knew how to have an incredible time dancing under the stars and I couldn’t help but dance a little myself. To Ely and Garrett, thanks for throwing the ultimate party and choosing me to be part of your day. Cheers to the Bredenkamps!
