My job as a photographer introduces me to a lot of people and sometimes clients wind up being friends. Mattie and Sean hold such a special place in my heart. I first met Mattie for tacos back in 2019 and we got to know each other over chips and salsa. I was instantly struck by how Mattie spoke about Sean and the way she described how he made her feel loved and valued. We photographed their engagement photos in January of 2020, where I got to learn about Mattie’s career as a therapist and Sean’s work as an engineer. Sean’s company was in the process of planning work that would take Sean to Antartica for several months, so we had to be sure to capture these two together before he left.
Mattie and I got together after Sean departed to chat wedding plans and so I could hear about Sean’s Antartica adventures. Unfortunately because of the start of the pandemic, his adventure below the equator did not last as long as planned. Like many couples and Sean’s time in Antartica, the pandemic rearranged Mattie and Sean’s wedding plans more than once. After venue changes and postponements, it was finally time to celebrate these two saying I-Do this past October. The morning was so relaxed while Mattie partied with her girls and I spent some time photographing her details. You guys know I love color, and Mattie did not disappoint in her design. Her detail photos were some of my absolute favorites last year. I mean; who doesn’t love a bride that rocks a sparkley sneaker? Mattie was absolutely glowing in her bridal look from Ladies of Lineage and I loved getting to take this private time with just her and her mom to photograph her bridal portraits.
To kick off the main portraits of the day, we headed to the back gardens of Vanlandingham Estate for Mattie and Sean’s first look. These two really are the best of friends and were all smiles and goofy moments during their photos. They were so at ease as we moved around the estate and had even more fun once the bridal party showed up. As the sun sunk into golden hour, Mattie and Sean were married under the chuppah. It was so special to have the ceremony during such a beautiful moment during the day to bring them into this next chapter of life. We snagged a few more portraits of Mattie and Sean before heading to their reception. You guys, this reception set up left me speechless. Lisa of Exquisite Events and Consulting truly knocked this out of the park. Complemented by florals from Springvine, one of my absolute favorite florists in town, this whimsical set up let no etherial dream wanting. Sean and Mattie spent the rest of the night hearing stories over toasts from family and friends, munching on a delicious dinner from Best Impressions Catering, and dancing the night away with their friends. They’re officially the bravest people I know for surviving The Horah in armless chairs, but wow was it a fun moment! To Mattie and Sean, you guys sure are special and I’m so glad to know you. Cheers to a lifetime of wedded bliss!
