Emily and Kyle | The Terrace at Cedar Hill

After meeting through their jobs at Davidson College, Emily and Kyle quickly realized that they shared a love of the outdoors, their ambition in their careers, and traveling. Fast forward to June of 2022, and it was time for Kyle and Emily to say I-Do. After photographing their engagement session along the Blue Ridge Parkway, I was excited to celebrate these two in Uptown Charlotte as they brought together their families and friends from all walks of life. Emily and Kyle got ready at the Kimpton Tryon Park Hotel. Here, the couple shared time with their wedding party getting dressed, exchanging gifts, and watching me photograph details (I’m always willing to have an audience! lol) When Kyle and Emily were ready for their first look, we headed across the street to Romare Bearden Park. The couple were bathed in bright sunlight as they took in each other’s wedding day looks, and needless to say their was nothing but smiles between these two.

For their bridal party photos, Kyle and Emily loved the idea of gathering their friends together at one of their favorite spots in town. With this in mind, we made our way to Freedom Park to show off one of Emily and Kyle’s regular stops and to capture all the laughs, hugs, and a few tears that were shed between their friends. We wrapped our time at the park with a few shots of the couple before heading to the wedding venue: The Terrace at Cedar Hill. Participating in a traditional Jewish ceremony, the ceremony process began with the signing of the ketubah, or a Jewish marriage contract. This moment was shared with some of their close family and friends and marked the beginning of their marriage ceremony. Soon, Emily walked down the aisle arm in arm with both her parents before she and Kyle exchanged their vows. Behind the chuppah, guests could take in a scene of Uptown, complete with a perfect view of the Bank of America stadium. Before long, guests shouted “Mazel!” as Kyle crushed the glass, and the couple made their way back up the aisle as Mr. and Mrs.

Cocktail hour took place on the venue’s famous terrace, where guests could enjoy the couple’s signature drinks while admired views of the Queen City. Inside, the incredible team from Magnificent Moments flipped the ceremony space to the reception set up of Emily’s dreams. Candles sat adjacent to colorful flowers designed by the fabulous artists at Springvine design, one of my all time favorite florists. Emily and Kyle kicked off their reception with a first dance, before inviting guests to enjoyed their station style dinner. After their meal, the couple shared dances with their parents, cut into their beautifully designed cake, and partied the night away with their friends. Really wanting to emphasize their close relationship with their varying friend groups, Kyle and Emily were very intentional about seeking out people from various walks of life to create memorable photos. Toward the end of the night, I joined Emily and Kyle on the terrace to watch fireworks over the baseball stadium before heading downstairs for their streamer send off.

Getting to work with such genuine humans like Kyle and Emily is part of what makes my job so so memorable and fun. This was such a beautiful summer day filled with so much detail, love, and laughter. A huge thank you to Emily and Kyle for letting me be part of such a beautiful celebration; I have so much love for you both!
