Mr. and Mrs. Katiyar | Stone River

Lindsey and I first met during our time studying Early Childhood Education at the University of South Carolina. I was so excited when she asked me about photographing her wedding. I had the pleasure of photographing Lindsey’s senior pictures our last year of college, so I loved the idea of capturing another big milestone for her. Prashant and Lindsey’s wedding took place on a chilly November morning in Columbia, South Carolina at Stone River. I began the day enjoying the weather and taking time to photograph Lindsey’s thoughtful details. Among her details, Lindsey included the cricket ball being used for the garter toss, photos of family members to be worn, gifts engraved with Hindu blessings, and her gold adorned stationary. Needless to say, I spent a lot of time on Lindsey’s details capturing every little thing and admiring both Lindsey and Prashant’s personal touches that they added to their day.

After spending some time photographing Lindsey with her mom and her parents receiving their gifts, I spent some time with Prashant to get to know him a little better. His family was not able to come over from India for the wedding due to COVID, but, Lindsey had his family write letters for Prashant to open on the wedding day. It was a tearful reading for this groom as he soaked in the warm wishes from his family. I admired Lindsey’s thoughtfulness once again to have them included any way that they could be. Prashant wore a pin with his mother and father’s picture on his suit so that he could carry them with him throughout the day.

Lindsey and Prashant enjoyed a nighttime ceremony surrounded by their family and friends. After the ceremony, we photographed the bride and groom with their families before heading into the reception. This reception will go down as one of my favorites in history. Between the incredible Indian food, the music and dancing, and the good vibes that kept rolling all night, this group knew how to celebrate and it was an absolute blast from start to finish. To the Prashants: you have a beautiful family and I would celebrate with you any day. Cheers to this chapter and all the ones to come!
